about us - madeleine abasMadeleine qualified in 1996 with top 20 law firm Irwin Mitchell and spent several years in their Business Crime Team, advising individuals and industrial clients facing investigation and/or prosecution across the full spectrum of regulatory breaches including health and safety, environment, trading standards and financial impropriety. Madeleine then joined the London office of global law firm DLA (now DLA Piper) within their Commercial Regulation Team, advising a range of national and international corporate clients facing investigation and/or prosecution by regulators such as the HSE, the FSA and the Inland Revenue. In 2004, Madeleine was one of the founding partners of niche firm OAH. Madeleine’s clients include international construction and utility companies, train operators, high street and merchant banks, manufacturers, retailers and professional individuals including company directors, accountants and fellow solicitors. In addition to representing clients through investigations and prosecutions, Madeleine also advises clients on compliance with various industry specific regulations, especially in the field of health and safety. An example of her commitment to understanding clients’ industries is her completion of the railway Personal Track Safety course. Often advising companies and their people in the immediate aftermath of serious accidents, and frequently appearing as an advocate at inquests, Madeleine has also benefited from skills enhanced through the Victim Support training programme. Madeleine regularly lectures and provides training on her areas of expertise, and is the Chair of the Health and Safety Lawyers Association.
