Rod qualified in 1998 and spent 2 years in private practice advising on all aspects of regulatory law, court procedure and evidence before joining the Environment Agency’s in-house legal team.

During his time at the Environment Agency, Rod undertook prosecution work in both the Magistrates Court and Crown Court involving the full ambit of environmental offending under the various regimes, to include waste, water, IPC, PPC, and RAS. Rod also advised on compliance policy issues and has a particular expertise in the PPC and Contaminated Land regimes.

In 2002, Rod joined national law firm Bevan Brittan’s Safety, Health and Environment team where he gained extensive experience of advising companies and NHS Trusts, and defending companies and individuals facing allegations of breaches of regulatory legislation.

In 2004, Rod was one of the founding partners of OAH. His clients range from small industrial and farming operations to large corporate bodies. Rod continues to advise on regulatory compliance and defend businesses faced with investigations by regulatory bodies such as the Health and Safety Executive, Environment Agency, Trading Standards and Inland Revenue.

Rod regularly lectures on his areas of expertise and has articles published in the trade press.
