EVOLVE

Our Evolve programme is designed to encourage safer workplaces by focusing on young workers at the start of their careers. This training goes beyond traditional academic learning, emphasising hands-on experience. It’s crucial to encourage our learners’ participation, empowering them to make informed choices even after the programme ends.

We aim to enhance their awareness of health and safety risks and equip them with the skills necessary to effectively manage these risks through interactive and engaging activities, creating a friendly and inviting learning atmosphere.

This programme highlights both successful practices and areas needing improvement. By positively shaping their behaviours and imparting essential knowledge, we empower the upcoming generation to establish a culture of safety, resulting in improved outcomes for themselves and their organisations.

Evolve is our more comprehensive programme with a duration of 8-6 weeks. This includes a range of classroom based learning and practical experiences within the workplace to assist the young worker in being prepared to deal with the potential challenges of the work environment

Evolve Lite our 1-day programme is an ideal choice for those unable to participate in our more comprehensive Evolve programme, yet still seeking valuable insights into the challenges young workers encounter, all delivered in a more concise format. We recognise the difficulties organisations face with employee turnover, and this option offers a cost-effective and time-efficient solution for those not yet fully engaged in the industry.

Covers

6-8 sessions over the period of 6-8 weeks – tailored to business needs

Session 1:
Classroom-based learning focused on setting the scene – i.e., why the risk profile is different for young workers. This module will include a “Don’t Walk By” challenge, meet and greet, an outline of the programme, the background to the programme, and case studies informed by OAH Law. Session 1 will also include a brief “awareness test” as a marker to measure knowledge gained.

Session 2: Shadowing on site (1 day per young worker), focusing on how they are briefed, the role of the supervisor, young worker awareness, and the working environment.

Session 3: 1-2-1 follow-up calls (Teams/Zoom) – 60 minutes max per young worker, to check on their progress and discuss any areas of concern they have.

Session 4: Follow-up from Sessions 1-3 to include shared learning. This session will also focus on high-risk areas, followed by simulator/hazard awareness exercises. These could be facilitated by a provider already engaged by you, or alternatively sourced through Yellow Triangle as part of the programme.

Session 5: Shadowing on site (as above)

Session 6: 1-2-1 follow-up calls (as above)

Session 7: Shared learning, plus behavioural safety modules including active listening, constructive challenge, and building confidence. The aim of this session is to equip young workers with the tools and confidence to challenge in a positive way.

Session 8: Course summary/recap session in the morning, followed by a Health and Safety awareness test in the afternoon.
